Grey Lite Theatre presents
"Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain" By Mark Dunn Directed by Kim Waldschmidt May 12-22, 1995 From the Director's Chair Grey Lite Theatre honors women in theatre with Mark Dunn's Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain. Set in the break room of a small bank in northern Mississippi on six consecutive weekday mornings, this engaging comedy eavesdrops on the lives of Jenny, Delores, Twyla, Betina and Lorene-women who have, for too long, defined themselves in terms of their relationships with men. With southern sass, tears and charm, the five tellers speak their minds and open their hearts to one another as they learn that there are many kinds of love and that strength and self respect can only come from within. It has been a great privilege to be able to direct my first dramatic performance at Grey Lite Theatre and I wish to thank Sue Nelson and the board for giving me that opportunity. I would be remiss if I didn't give credit where credit is due, however, and thank those with whom I have danced, directed and collaborated with at the Fort Wayne Dance Collective for the last eleven years. But, my theatrical sensibilities wish to tip my hat to Robert Kelly for believing in me, and Ranea Butler for her endless encouragement. Not only do a heart-load of people follow each one of us to the stage, but I have grown especially appreciative of all those folks mentioned on the "behind the Scenes" page and to you, dear audience, for your support of the arts in our community. For your enjoyment, may we present our production of Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain! Kim Waldschmidt, Director THE CAST Caryl Ball (DELORES BOGATIN) Caryl has been an elementary substitute teacher for Fort Wayne Community Schools for more years than she cares to mention. She is a late comer to the theater. Her first appearance on stage (since her singing debut with "The Good Ship Lollypop" in seventh grade) was last April as Time in Grey Lite's Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs of the Black Forest. Last summer, she performed as General Cartright in Guys and Dolls for Grey Lite. Most of her work for Grey Lite has been behind the scene, typing programs, building sets and being a gofer, which is a much more comfortable place to be. Caryl has really enjoyed this experience, being of the opinion that anything that doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Her special thanks go to Judy David for her support and to her children, Meredith, Mike and Jill, and husband, Steve, for their love. Deborah Christie (BETINA EMBREE) By day, Deborah, the mother of Sarah and Jennifer, is an administrative assistant at the Alien County War Memorial Coliseum and buys talent for clients events held at the Coliseum. By night, she could be just about anything. She has performed in over twenty-two plays in most of the local theaters and has won awards for her performances in Under the Gaslight, Forty Carats, and Angel Street. Before coming to Fort Wayne, she was busy in the Toledo theater community. Deborah has also done numerous radio and television commercials. Her last appearance on the Grey Lite stage was as the murderess in A Shot In The Dark. She wants to thank her husband, Bryan, for being "Mr. Mom" while she is in the show. Kelly Kellen (LORENE LEE) Kelly is a senior at IPFW and will graduate in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Music Education. She hopes to land a job teaching elementary school music. Her goal is to be a great teacher, continue doing community theater and eventually direct a community children's choir. This is Kelly's first speaking role since she played Sandy in Grease in April 1988. She has performed in two other Grey Lite productions. She was a mission doll in last summer's Guys and Dolls and the soprano in the Angel City Five in GLP's City Of Angels last fall. Kelly wants to thank her husband, Jeff, for listening to her lines a thousand times, keeping up on the laundry and the dishes, and being fully supportive of her. Beckie J. Mark (TWYLA TOBIAS) Beckie is making her debut appearance with Grey Lite in Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain. Beckie has performed as a dancer for Bob Hope's 90th Birthday Party, "The Last Action Hero" premiere, Mr. and Mrs. Miliken's Anniversary Party, and the Marvin Davis' Annual Christmas Party. In addition, she has done several workout videos. In the future, Beckie hopes to find a career that she truly enjoys, so she can buy a West Highland white terrier named Katherine, and a Great Dane named Spencer. She takes each day one day at a time and appreciates all God has given her. Beckie thanks her parents, Phillip and Ovejean Mark, for putting up with her this past year. Christy Reising (JENNIFER DUCK) Christy has appeared in several plays at the Fort Wayne Ccivic 'I'heater, including Oklahoma, The Fantasticks and Evita. She also appeared in Godspell at The First Presbyterian 'I'heater. At Grey Lite Theatre, Christy has performed on stage as Donna/Oolie in City Of Angels, a hot box dancer in Guys and Dolls and in the musical revue, Broadway Twos, Threes, and More. Christy has worked behind st:age as well, as stage manager and technical support for such Grey Lite productions as The Zoo Story, Dancing At Lughnasa, It Runs in the Family and Spike Heels. She was also a technician for Grapes of Wrath at the Civic. Christy's present goals are finding an apartment so she doesn't have to live in a tent and eating a cupcake in less than a minute without choking. She wishes to thank her lovely family and wonderful friends for their love and support. THANKS GUYS! Jill Younts (MAID/Stage Manager) Jill is presently attending Ball State University. Although she does not speak in Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain, Jill is very important to the movement of the performance. Jill was been stage manager for City of Angels at Grey Lite, as well as behind the scenes work for several of South Side High School's theatrical productions. Jill was last seen on Grey Lite's stage as a mission doll in last summer's production of Guys and Dolls. While at South Side, she was in a number of productions, as well as directing a one-act when she was a freshman. TIME AND PLACE
