The Grey Lite Players present
"It Runs in the Family"
By Ray Cooney
Directed by Pat Arthur

From the Director's Chair

It is not often that you find a cast with the varied amount of experience that this one has: from the "rookie" to the long-time veteran. It has been challenge and a joy and I appreciate the effort of everyone involved. My thanks again to the Board of Grey Lite Theatre for another opportunity. A special thanks to all those personal friends who jump in to help when I need their special talents, and to my "audience" friends who continue to be faithful--you make it all worthwhile. And, of course, nothing is ever accomplished without the time and talent contributed by the backstage people without whom not even a light would go on. These productions always take about six weeks out of your life and by the time the lights go up on opening night, it feels like it's been six months: then the lights go down on the last night and it seems like we just got started and you know you're going to miss seeing everyone- and that keeps you coming back for more! I hope you enjoy the show!

Who's Who in the "Family"

TAD ATKINSON (Sargent) Tad has most recently appeared as Michael in Dancing at Lughnasa at Grey Lite and is a veteran of numerous productions at Grey Lite, Civic, Arena and First Presbyterian theatres. By day, Tad teaches English and Speech/Communications with Indiana Wesleyan's LEAP program. He is also a coach with South Side's Speech team. To fill out his days, Tad has just become the Drama director at Brookside Church.

MARYAMBER BOSK (Matron) This young at heart grandmother of ten appeared here last in Murder at the Vicarage. Her other credits include Aunt Dorothy in Prelude to a Kiss at the Civic, the oldest sister in Mornings at Seven at First Presbyterian Theatre, Rosebud in Natalie Needs A Nightie, and Betty in The Foreigner at the Arena Dinner Theatre. She has won several theatre awards in her over 25 years of Fort Wayne theatre. She also appeared in professional summer stock and dinner theatre on the East Coast and Florida.

ANDREW GROSS (Mike Connelly) Andrew has been working with Grey Lite Players since it began. To earn his living, Andrew works as a Special Education teacher. For fun, he raises birds and torments his cats, Grace and Ifit. As always, Andrew would like to thank his family and friends for their continued support and encouragement.

BETH HUKILL (Rosemary) Beth has a BBA from Iowa State University. After spending many a year working outside the house, she is now inside watching soaps and eating bonbons with her children and her three neurotic hounds. It Runs In The Family is Beth's first show since high school where she appeared in Never Too Late, The Music Man and My Fair Lady. Beth would like to thank her husband, Brook, and her parents, family and friends for their support and babysitting services.

LORI MORGAN (Jane Tate) This is Lori's first show at Grey Lite Theatre. Her past performances include parts in West Side Story, Rumplestiltskin, Our Town and Love, Death and the Prom. Lori is presently a junior at South Side High School.

PAUL NEWBERG (David Mortimore) Paul is a teacher and coach in EACS. This show is providing Paul with the opportunity to relax between basketball and golf seasons. Paul was last seen on Grey Lite's stage as Benny Southstreet in Guys and Dolls. He was also in Grey Lite productions of Lend M~ and Anything Goes Paul would like to thank his family, friends and cast members for their help, encouragement and love.

ED NICHOLAS (Sir Willoughby Drake) Ed is a Principal Engineer with Central Soya Company. He began performing at Civic in 1970 as the jury foreman in Inherit The Wind. For the next eleven years, he worked with the Civic, Arena, St. Francis, and First Presbyterian Theatres. After a 10-year layoff, he came back to Fort Wayne theatres with a bang. Since 1991, Ed has performed at the Arena as Sgt. Rough in Gaslight and Santa Claus in Sorry, Wrong Chimney. At First Presbyterian, he was Sgt. Carlino in Wait Until Dark, Doctor in Blithe Spirit and Abe Goldman in Beau Jest. Ed played the roles of Lt. Commander Stone in A Few Good Men and Dr. Boyle in Prelude to a Kiss at the Civic. We are glad that Ed has finally found his way to the stage of Grey Lite Theatre.

HOWARD POWERS (Leslie) Howard is new to the Grey Lite Theatre stage. He says his interests include shaving chickens, juggling cats, and perfecting his version of the call of the amazing Tibetan yak. He has an extensive collection of rust, which he keeps stored in his 1974 Plymouth, and a great sense of humor.

DOROTHY RIOUX (Mother/Sister) Dorothy is a twenty-year veteran of local theatre. She has played at the Civic, Arena, First Presbyterian and Grey Lite Theatres. Dorothy last appeared in Lie, Cheat and Genuflect, Murder at the Vicarage and Rumors for Grey Lite Theatre. She has eight children and ten grandchildren.

MANUEL (MANNY) SILVERMAN (Bill) Manny's most recent appearances were at the First Presbyterian Theatre as Doolittle in Pygmalion and Mordecai in A Shavna Madel. A veteran of the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre, he played the title roles in Richard III and MacBeth, George in Virginia Woolf, Sheridan Whiteside in The Man Who Came To Dinner, and major supporting roles in more than 30 other productions. His favorite parts were Senex in Forum and Cantwell in The Best Man, with Walter Abel in the starring role. He is married to Maggie Silverman, also a veteran of over 30 shows at local theatres.

DICK VER WIEBE (Hubert) Dick has been performing for Fort Wayne theatre audiences since 1959. Among his favorite roles are Gayev in The Cherry Orchard, Captain Hook in Peter Pan, Malvolio in Twelfth Night, and Ko-Ko in the Mikado. Dick is an Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration.
