The Dining Room - March 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, and 25, 2012

Auditions:

  • The Dining Room - Auditions: Sunday, January 15, 2012, at 7:00 pm, and Monday, January 16, 2012, at 7:00 pm. Auditions will be held at The Estonian House, located at 14700 Estonian Lane in Riverwoods, and will consist of cold readings and improvisation. Set in the dining room of a typical well-to-do household, the action of the play is comprised of a mosaic of interrelated scenes – some funny, some touching, some rueful – which, when taken together, create an in-depth portrait of a vanishing species: the upper-middle-class WASP. The actors change roles, personalities, and ages as they portray a wide variety of characters, from little boys to stern grandfathers, giggling teenage girls to Irish housemaids. Each of the 18 vignettes introduces a new set of people and events, allowing each actor to portray 9–10 different characters. Director Brent A. Stringfield is casting 3 women and 3 men, each to play 9–10 characters. All ages and types are encouraged to audition. Headshots and resumes are extremely helpful, but not required. No appointment necessary.
