There are several invaluable websites for theatre performers in Chicago and its suburbs. My favorite is NICOTH (http://www.nicoth.com), (Northern Illinois COmmunity THeatre). Maintained by Laurie Faith Gibson, this is the forum for theatre performers, directors, and technicians. Users post audition notices, announce upcoming productions, and discuss theatre topics.

Another site I just discovered is Lake County Performing Arts (http://www.lakecountyperformingarts.org/). This site is maintained by a Lake County musician, and includes a very nice color-coded calendar, listing concerts, plays, musicals, etc. It also includes links to children's arts groups, music stores, and instructors; information about auditions and competitions; and and arts blog.

The incredible Theatre in Chicago site (http://www.theatreinchicago.com) lists professional show productions in Chicago and the suburbs, as well as Equity and non-Equity auditions. It includes a search engine and a map of theaters. Other sections include: half-price tickets, children's shows, theatre news, reviews, photos, video clips, and a podcast. You could spend hours here.

And this amazing site -- "Broadway and Theater History"
(http://www.newyork.com/resources/broadway-and-theater-history/) was brought to my attention Carrie, a student of Ms. Deborah Ward in Delaware. Thanks, Carrie and Ms. Ward!
